13-year-old girl missing in Saitama since March 10

A 13-year-old girl has been missing in Asaka, Saitama Prefecture, since March 10, police said Friday.

The girl, Anna Saito, did not return home after school on March 10. Fuji TV reported that her mother found a note in the mailbox which said: “I need a little break from home and from school. I’ll be at my friend’s house for now. Please do not come searching for me.”

The girl’s mother phoned her daughter’s friends but she was not with any of them. She told reporters she can’t even begin to think of what might have happened and that she had no idea where her daughter might have gone.

Police have asked anyone with any information regarding the case to call the Asaka police department at 048-465-0110.
